Meaning: A case study is an in-depth study of one client throughout one event. In a case study, nearly every aspect of the clients's journey throughout the event is analyzed to seek patterns and causes of behavior. Case studies can be used in various fields, including technology. It presents a very real "story" to the reader, making it believable as well as personal.
Purpose: A case study looks at a specific event and is based around a Viadex client's experience. The purpose of a case study is to learn as much as possible about the event so that the information can be generalized to many others. It is important to avoid the case studies being subjective, and it is very important to be specific about what clients will benefit from the information contained in the case study..
If you are doing a cold call, meeting, presentation to a group that either isn't familiar with your organization or need to keep a prospect that is not quite at the buying stage yet warm you need to position both Viadex and yourself as relevant and with the skills to add value to their business if their pain point is the same as the case study - it can be useful.
The Attributes of a Case Study: Some of the positives of a case study is that it allows the researcher(s) to investigate things that are often difficult to impossible to replicate without a real experience. Other benefits of a case study - 1) Allows researcher(s) to collect a great deal of information 2) Gives researcher(s) the chance to collect information on real live user cases 3) Permits researcher(s) to use the information to apply in future cases to either increase or decrease efficiencies / experiences already identified. Some of the negatives of a case study is that it is dependent on the researcher(s) approach. The cautions when putting a case study together are that 1) sometimes the information cannot necessarily be generalized as relevant for all clients 2) may be based off opinions vs. facts and 3) can sometimes lead to bias
